Lets just admit, Gunwharf is a success and Commercial Rd is dead and needs major (non-retail) redevelopment. All of the rest do not meet the definition of 'district centre' as they are all 'strip malls' to use an American term - long, streetside shopping areas unsuited to modern shopping habits without major infrastructure changes. You also need to add Milton Market to your list - one of the few thriving centres in the city |

If you are serious on reducing travel - you do not want to encourage me to the city centre (need transport) rather to Southsea or gunwharf where i would walk. Gunwharf is now the big shops. Southsea as identified, city centre struggling. |
