405martinFeedback (Q17-20)Question 17b: Do you have any further comments or suggestions about the draft Policy C1?This is a 'protect what we have if we can' approach, there is no vision, no analysis of what we need or where there are gaps that could be filled or encourage to be filled. Where are the big leisure projects to replace the pyramids - the ski slopes, the seafront watersports, the big climbing walls (all just examples)

538markbartonrnFeedback (Q17-20)Question 17b: Do you have any further comments or suggestions about the draft Policy C1?There seem to be too many community facility places - I am involved in one and bookings mean we are not fully used so different groups establish for different purposes, there are plenty of merger opportunities.
579adrian.broomeFeedback (Q17-20)Question 17b: Do you have any further comments or suggestions about the draft Policy C1?too many SPORTs facilities (eg swimming) being combined on too FEW locations. This creates too much pressure on the FEW locations for parking for example.
582derekdFeedback (Q17-20)Question 17b: Do you have any further comments or suggestions about the draft Policy C1?Open space must be protected from planners - see how Ravelin Park is diisappearing, University proposed buliding in Victoria Park, attempts to build on the Common, etc.
597Feedback (Q17-20)Question 17b: Do you have any further comments or suggestions about the draft Policy C1?There is no longer a need for a facility could be used as an excuse - if a pool has low visitors because it is old and dirty, you could say it is no longer needed, but what is actually needed is refurbishment and investment, and then it becomes a community hub. You should have something in here about proving refurbishment won't help first.
654johnbuddFeedback (Q17-20)Question 17b: Do you have any further comments or suggestions about the draft Policy C1?With regards creating future infrastructure here is a recent communication I sent to Councillor Vern-Jackson In relation to the ongoing situation on what to do with the Tipner peninsula it appears things are a bit of a stalemate. We have a prime location with its own motorway junction and public transport hub but seemingly no way forward?. What I see is a huge potential to put Portsmouth on the world map. Not unlike the east end of London, we have a lot of empty land close together that instead of just creating housing it could include additional facilities for the city and beyond. What I am referring to is like east London was used to facilitate the infrastructure for the 2012 Olympics Tipner, Port Solent and Alexandra Park could be brought together to create a complex to make a future bid for the Commonwealth Games. Before you think that this is a crazy idea, back in the 70's there was an entry in the city council records of a potential bid for Portsmouth to host the 1980 Olympics! Of course that went to Moscow, but what it does show is back then, during the economic turmoil of the 70's, Portsmouth had ambition. So my proposal is to bring that ambition back, and for us to be the first city in the UK, South of London, to host the Commonwealth games Think of all the legacy benefits Create Jobs Provide additional housing Encourage more people to take up sport Leave us with top facilities for local competitors Bring future events to boost our local economy Put Portsmouth on the world stage Below, based on the events Birmingham 2022 are covering, this is how potentially we could host the Commonwealth Games: Stamshaw Alexandra Park Stadium – opening and closing ceremonies, athletics / New 45-50 seater stadium Legacy can be used for future world class athletic events Training facilities for South Coast athlete's. Possible double up as new Portsmouth FC ground Which would mean a reduction of city centre traffic on match days. Port Solent Arena– gymnastics / build exhibition/concert arena Legacy Can be used to bring world class exhibitions and provide concert facilities for major bands and artists. Southsea Common/Seafront – cycling (mountain bike, road, time trial) / temporary build/existing Fratton Park– rugby sevens, existing update in conjunction with PFC Legacy if PFC stay at Fratton Park would provide better facilities for fans. If PFC moves to Alexandra Park, after the games, then the area could be used for additional housing. Portsmouth United Services Ground – Cricket / existing update Legacy encourage the possibility of the return of of first class cricket and maybe England matches Port Solent Arena/ Guildhall Judo, wrestling weightlifting /build/existing Mountbatten Aquatics Centre– aquatics existing update Legacy world class swimming facilities for local swimmers to develop. Also could hold future swimming championships HMS Temeraire/Mountbatten Centre - 3x3 basketball, 3x3 wheelchair basketball, netball, badminton, table tennis existing update Legacy in conjunction with the MOD would leave with much needed improved facilities for our fantastic service personnel. Southsea Seafront beach volleyball / existing HM Naval Base/Southsea Seafront– triathlon / existing Portsmouth & Southsea/ Portsdown Hill and beyond – cycling road race / existing Legacy to show the world how wonderful our city and surrounding area is and what it can offer United Services Ground/HMS Temeraire – hockey, squash / existing update Legacy as above Southsea – lawn bowls / existing update Legacy as above Southsea Seafront – cycling time trials / existing Legacy as above Tipner Velodrome cycling (track) / build Legacy To replace the cycle track at the redeveloped Alexandra Park Stadium. It will then give local cycle clubs world class facilities Tipner/ City Centre student blocks Athletes' accommodation build/existing Legacy Once new accommodation at Tipner has been used it would provide low cost housing for residents. Additional build bridge to connect Tipner to Port Solent Legacy Can be used for easier and quicker access to Port Solent by bus, bike, taxis and for pedestrians. Other alternative areas could be used or developed depending on use required Hilsea Lido Roko Sports and Hilsea Rugby Camp HMS Excellent Having lived in Stamshaw, and when I was a child went to cubs and scouts in Tipner, I've always felt this north west part of Portsmouth has been largely forgotten. How nice would it be for it to become centre stage for world class sport in the South. Thank you for listening. If you would like to discuss it further please let me know. 668eastneyboyFeedback (Q17-20)Question 17b: Do you have any further comments or suggestions about the draft Policy C1?Policy research is dated to 2017 for facilities but since then they have declined such as Eastney Swimming Pool and Pyramids so no swimming pools in the south of the city!
