597 | Feedback (Q21-25) | Question 25b: Do you have any further comments or suggestions about the suggested approach to Policy G5? | This is all about new development, but where is the policy on improving what is already there and over-capacity?
618 | Feedback (Q21-25) | Question 25b: Do you have any further comments or suggestions about the suggested approach to Policy G5? | I dont think there should be new development in a flood risk area.
656 | Feedback (Q21-25) | Question 25b: Do you have any further comments or suggestions about the suggested approach to Policy G5? | my biggest immediate concern is the drainage as our systems cannot cope. the flood picture for 2115 is pretty scary. presumably all the flood defence work is mitigating this entirely??
694 | pat.omahoney | Feedback (Q21-25) | Question 25b: Do you have any further comments or suggestions about the suggested approach to Policy G5? | Be careful ! Any tidal flooding in the coastal and low lying areas of the city will have a direct impact on the system further north and on any existing pumping stations on the main land. Sensibly it would make sense never to increase development on the island for this reason plus Victorian brick built sewers wont take the strain. Also it is hardly likely Coastal Tidal Defences will ever hold back the flood there are too many chinks in the armour eg Portchester and Havant. |
716 | clareseek | Feedback (Q21-25) | Question 25b: Do you have any further comments or suggestions about the suggested approach to Policy G5? | There is also the question of insurance costs for developments in flood risk areas. If they're meant to be affordable homes for example, but insurance companies see them as in risky locations, how can anyone get affordable insurance? Should we really be encouraging more building on areas that we don't expect to be here in 100 years time? |
746 | mgmitchell | Feedback (Q21-25) | Question 25b: Do you have any further comments or suggestions about the suggested approach to Policy G5? | Southern Water needs to do much more to separate rain water from sewage in the City's drainage system. In spite of replacing the broken sewage pipes in the Chelsea Road area some years ago, some houses in the area still suffer sewage 'blowback' when it rains very heavily. |
748 | dragonflybeth | Feedback (Q21-25) | Question 25b: Do you have any further comments or suggestions about the suggested approach to Policy G5? | Plant more trees! I was disappointed that the sea defences were only raised by a recommended amount, when the future forecasts now suggest this may not be high enough. We need to plan for the worst case scenario, and then some on an island city. |
758 | Feedback (Q21-25) | Question 25b: Do you have any further comments or suggestions about the suggested approach to Policy G5? | Nature won't listen to flood risk strategys. We need to reduce all of our emissions which are causing earth to heat and water to rise. Treat the root cause, not the symptom. We won't be able to rely on flood mitigation when the island floods.
775 | Feedback (Q21-25) | Question 25b: Do you have any further comments or suggestions about the suggested approach to Policy G5? | I'm on my phone and can't see the draft document and answer these questions. If I go back to look I lose my previous answers therefore questions such a do you agree with 'GX' are impossible to answer without cross referencing. Perhaps this isn't an issue on other IT platforms but many people use phones now so this should have been considered during the design phase. |
