400mike_whitmarshFeedback (Q1-3)Question 3b: Do you have any further comments or suggestions about the Spatial Development Strategy for the new Local Plan?It cannot be an acceptable part of this plan to destroy the Tipner West mudflats. These have the highest possible level of protection for wildlife. As well as being a vital habitat for endangered wildlife, this area provides valuable carbon storage and benefits to water quality. As one of the last wild corners of Portsmouth, this is an area that should instead be embraced for Portsmouth residents to engage with nature, which has many recognised mental and physical health benefits. It is an important part of the Green City objective.

410jon.allgoodFeedback (Q1-3)Question 3b: Do you have any further comments or suggestions about the Spatial Development Strategy for the new Local Plan?Cant see any reference to the massive development around the seafront flood defences. Seems odd not to highlight as a strategic site. also there needs to be thought to the linkages between sites and transport & infrastructure to support and enable the sustainable development.

436Feedback (Q1-3)Question 3b: Do you have any further comments or suggestions about the Spatial Development Strategy for the new Local Plan? There is no more room for more homes! There are far too many students which reduces housing for residents and significantly increases the price of private rent.

523Feedback (Q1-3)Question 3b: Do you have any further comments or suggestions about the Spatial Development Strategy for the new Local Plan?Milton (St James' and Langstone Campus) cannot be considered as a Strategic Development area when the traffic congestion is excessive; air quality, public transport and community infrastructure are all poor; and Langstone Harbour is vulnerable to recreational stress, nitrate stress and eutrophication. Langstone Campus is in any case within the Coastal Zone and defining it as a Strategic Development area is misleading and totally incompatible with subsequent draft Policy S10. S10 proposes resisting inappropriate development in a valued landscape indicated by a planning refusal. Langstone Campus should be excluded from the Strategic Development classification by deleting it from Figure 3 on p26.

575Feedback (Q1-3)Question 3b: Do you have any further comments or suggestions about the Spatial Development Strategy for the new Local Plan?I cannot see how the Tipner development contributes to greening the city if it damages the special and well recognised Solent silt and tidal arrangements that protect the city. Also there is the issue of wildlife and fauna, and counterproposals which suggest it could be relocated and provide affordable/social homes.
